Crohn's or what? Need help asap!?I'm a 15 year old female and have been sick for the past 1 1/2 years but have had stomach problems for 5 years now. I have went through every blood, urine, and stool test imaginable, endoscopy/colonoscopy, abdominal ct, upper gi, and most recently a sweat chloride test. I'm supposed to be going through a capsule endoscopy soon, and be getting the rest of my test results back (few blood and stool).
I tested positive for antibodies for Chron's, back when the inflammation in my stomach and colon were biopsied the results came back inconclusive. Right after the procedure my GI doc started me on prednisone back has now weaned me off because he is not sure if I have Chron's now. Is it still possible that I have Crohn's?
I also tested high borderline on my sweat test and on the repeat my level was 59 (60 is positive) and am waiting for my blood test results to see if I have cystic fibrosis.
The doctors are giving up and classifying me as having an eating disorder, but I love food, am not afraid of it, and want to gain weight.
What is wrong with me?????
Here are my symptoms ~
* Nausea
* Extremely severe sharp stabbing constant stomach pain
* Diarrhea
* Night fevers
* Headaches in the morning
* Fatigue
* Indigestion and GERD
* Unintentional weight loss (went from 120lbs to 85lbs at 5'8" in about 4 months)
* Back and joint pain in knees and hips
I have been lactose intolerant for 5 years now.

First, I want to say how brave you are to be going through all you are . It is horrible to not feel well. When I was your age I went through a lot of what you are going through. I am certainly no expert, but, I can tell you what worked for me. I found out, after a lot of trial and error, that I was sensitive to dairy products. Milk, especially, made me sick to my stomach, diarrhea, headaches (especially in the mornings), gerd, etc. The diarrhea would contribute to the weight lose. My suggestion to you, cut the dairy products out for a few days. If that's the problem then you will know very quickly. Have you been tested for lactose intolerance? That's the bodies inability to digest dairy properly. I hope I've been of some help. Don't get discouraged. Another thought you might suggest to your parents is to try a different doctor. Take all your records with you and get some new ideas. I hope in some small way I've helped. Good luck & God Bless.

Sounds like you have good insurance, the major side effect of that is a
zillion tests.
With these problems you might as well fixate on the study of human physiology and medicine. You will have to study some chemistry to help it make sense.
You can cheaply get on Amazon.com a used Human Anatomy and Physiology text by Elaine N. Marieb.
There is a free and trusted medical text on line called the Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy (see the link below). Keep in mind its published by a drug company so double check on the medication recommendations.)

You have to be a detective and observant scientist, make a journal of what you eat and when.
The top things to look out for which are common problems:
1) Bacterial Food poisoning which you are at higher risk of by eating out, the more you eat out the more you get it. Typically it takes about 1 1/2 days of lag time (but staph food poisoning can hit in hours.) It may not be your problem but it can make things worse.
2) An 'allergy' to some flours (see malabsorbtion syndrome). But if its a true allergy then besides diet change chromolyn might help. Antihistiamines?, I don't think they ever tested them to see how it affects food allergies.
3) lack of fiber in diet (solved with an orange a day, or if that is too expensive oatmeal. Again, may not be your problem but it can make things worse for most people to have a low fiber diet.
Besides this get a board certified gastoenterologist. The Merck Manual also comes in a home edition, but the one linked above might help your family decide on tests.
This all assumes a GI problem, the difficulty of medical practice is diagnosis. Sometimes a tumor that secretes hormones is a problem, and that would also give the same signs.
