can a bad case of gerd or acid reflux cause thrush?
so should i worry about it cuz i seen a doc and the doc said thats its becuz the acid is throwing off the ph balance in my mouth

I don't believe so- thrush is typically caused by an overgrowth in the body's naturally occuring yeast stores. The mouth- being warm and moist- is a common place for the overgrowth to take place. Skin, scalp, and fingernails also can be affected. Try taking the over the counter enzymes (I like 'Pearls' since they don't dissolve & die out in your stomache acids). Pearls can be found at Walmart for around $ 15- $ 30 depending. Also cut back on your sugar, bread & alcohol intake. Hope this helps.

Thrush (yeast infection) it can be a sign of a very low immune system also it can be secondary to taking steroids especially if you take it for Asthma, taking antibiotics or if you have uncontrolled Diabetes, however GERD will cause you heartburn and/ or cough but not Thrush.
you treat it with Nystatin, but you need to see your Dr. for treatment and treating the culprit.

Candida needs a higher PH, 4.5 or higher, ( closer to alkaline than it to acidic) to start growing, you will see this in vaginal yeast causing the yeast infection.
In GERD you find that acid in the acid reflux has low PH (2) or lower, hence the symptoms, this PH will erode teeth but will keep candida from growing.
