What do they do when heartburn medicines dont help?i took prilosec, still got a little heartburn, and bad side effects so i had to stop, now i take zantac 150 twice a day
and i still get bad heartburn, at night only, like baddd
i havent seen a stomach dr yet tho..just my regular doctor.
my insurance company wont approve prevacid yet...
i was told get a presccription for nexium, but im afraid ill have the same side effects as prilosec since they are both PPI's
what would a doctor have to do about this chronic heartburn/GERD if nooo medicines work?
also, the heartburn might be slighlty psycho somatic...
and im 22 year old female, no soda, no alcohol, no smoking or drugs, no fast food, i eat verrry healthy..
i also dont eat anything from the list of foods that they say causes heartburn esp onions, tomato products, peppers, and citris stuff...
WHAT CAN I DO??
I am soooo sooo uncomfortable and i cant live like this, and i am sooo angry that i just cant have a normal relaxing night

They will probably run tests to prove that you have acid reflux first and if so and its severe there is surgery to correct the problem when medication doesn't work.

Well, there's still coffee that relaxes the esophogeal sphincter, big time.
Otherwise Gaviscon is often recommended, in a bottle. Sleep elevated.
The surgery involves tying up the valve a bit; minor.

Yeah this can happen to many people. Especially if they are chronic heartburn sufferers. And if so there are tons of foods that must be eaten only in moderation. Excessive heartburn can lead to hazardous heart and stomach problems! I've been a heartburn sufferer for 15 years, so I know the in's and outs of it.
