Is GERD similar to Pancreatitis?

GERD edited the following:

Is GERD similar to Pancreatitis?I have had severe pain in both sides, as well as in the stomach, causing me to not eat, and it got so bad that I went to the doctor. He told me that because I said I got heartburn once, despite all of my other symptoms and how I was crying from the pain, it was GERD. I do not have a problem with heartburn, but I do drink a lot, and I told him this, which is why I was concerned that it was my kidneys, pancreas, or liver. I already have had my gallbladder and appendix out so it's not that. I have been taking the meds for GERD to no avail and am still in a lot of pain. My concern is that I have been misdiagnosed and I have a serious problem and I don't know what to do.

If it was pancreatic then every time you drank it would hurt then too. GERDS would be the spasms of the digestive system, allowing backflow of gastric juices to irritate the esophagus. Ulcers from alcohol and decreased absorbtion could be problem. Its your money tell him you want more tests you don't think the treatment is working. Just to let you in on a secret, if you have a alcohol problem, they are not going to prescribe pain medication until last resort because you already have a addictive tendancy, sorry just the plain truth. Seen it to many times.
