Baby question..Gerd...colic...cereal?

These are useful and collceted by GERD!

Baby question..Gerd...colic...cereal?Hi. I am wondering what some of you think about this. Baby has switched formulas a total of 7 times since born. First it was the regular similac and it seemed to give gas. Second it was the sentive formula that gave blood in stools, then it was the soy and then alimentum and then nutramigen and now perscption formula. Now 4 mos old and has had better improvent with the perscption formula, been on for couple of months already. Still gassy, but burps better with the percp formula. Spits up with burp after almost every feeding. Gassy. Today eating more then b4 and fussy. Rattling sounds sometimes. Does this sound like gerd to you? Do you think at 4mos baby is ready for cereal and maybe help if has gerd? Doctor says gerd/colic. Anybody had a baby with gerd sound like this?

4 months old is old enough for cereal. Rice cereal and water it down, slowly increasing the thickness over time. My son had severe colic for the first 6 months of his life, and he wasnt just fussy he SCREAMED for hours. In my opinion switching formula that many times just makes it worse because they are all different! (pediatricians fault, they know better) Milicon works to break up gas, and elevating the child after feeding and burping them often helps with the spit up! Rattling is a typical sign of gerd (acid reflux) because sometimes when they spit up and are laying on their back, they will suck some of the spit up down their wind pipe and into their lungs, causing rattling or congestion. Keep an eye on it though, if it doesnt clear itself up soon, take her/him to the doc to have an x ray on their lungs to make sure they are getting too much fluid! good luck!

I have a three month old and I don't know what gerd is. Is it another name for colic? Anyway, something you may want to try is mixing infant rice in his/her formula. Also another thing to check out is feel around his/her gums to see if they feel tougher. Baby might be getting teeth and that could cause fussiness. **Make sure you wash your hands first!** If you think Baby is in pain from teething, you could give him/her some baby tylenol or a teething ring. Make sure to ask your doctor about how much to give. Hope this helps!

When my baby gets really fussy, I have put her in her car set and put her car seat on the dryer while I stand there with her (stay with Baby to make sure he/she doesn't fall off!) and it seems to calm her down. If Baby is really gassy lay Baby on stomach and GENTLY press on his/her back and see if it helps him/her to pass gas or burp.

Hope these help!
Good luck!

My baby had GERD and colic. Yes my baby spit up a lot but the biggest giveaway was that he was constantly fussy and did not sleep. He would scream and scream for hours.
For gas you can try mylicon gas, it breaks down the gas bubbles.
If it is Gerd/colic, keep in mind your baby will be better at 3-4 months. I know what you are going through and there is hope! Enjoy every minute, they grow up too fast. The colicky crying will be over before you know it. When your baby is crying, hold him/her and show love always. If you need a break, put the baby down in a safe place and walk away. Gerd usually ends at 6 months when baby sits up on his/her own. My baby was pretty much cured at 3 1/2 months. He still spits up but he's a "happy spitter." He doesnt cry much anymore and he sleeps like a dream. Good Luck!
