Yes, it will help. It's basically the same ingredient as antacid tablets. However, the problem with doing this is that after you have done this for awhile, you begin to think more is better. That can become dangerous. The nice thing about the tablets is that they are a controlled dose and you get instructions telling you how much is safe to take at a time.
