11 month old not pointing, gesturing, clapping hands, etc. - anyone's baby do this late too & turn out ok?My daughter just turned 11 months old. She had a rough start - undiagnosed GERD = slow to gain weight & because of the spitting up she didn't get tummy time until 3 months, so I expect her motor skills to be slow. She sits up well without support, army crawls/creeps, starting to pull up on things, will try to walk when you hold her waist or hands, occasionally holds her bottle. She also does babble (not a ton, lots of vowels and some consonants). She laughs and smiles @ you. She still explores everything, & I mean everything, with her mouth. She Looks @ her toys more now than before (before all she wanted to do was chew them). She will turn pages of her books. So that is all great. But I see other kids her age (about 1 month older) who say "milk", know how to clap their hands, point to things and just have a look on their face like they understand or are trying to learn and are studying you. She doesn't seem to have that look. Anyone else experience this & are they now okay?
This is our first baby, and she's at home with dad all day (no daycare). Thanks.

Your child is just moving at her own pace. My niece wasnt doing everything when everyone expected her too. But she just turned 1yrs in may and just start walking last week, and it aslo depends on if they have older sibling they tend to learn faster, I dont think anything is wrong with her.

my osn is 15 months and cant say milk- he can say quite a few things but def not milk- he was probably close to her age when he started pointing and clapping. what i did was clap his hand for him and everytim he did something like pull up on something i would clap and say yay! and be really excited. he started doing it lol. she probably just stubborn. one of my son's little girl friends is 18 month old and she doesnt have that look either but i know she's incredibly smart, shes jsut stubborn and sneaky lol

Babies learn at thier own pace. Babies tend to focus on different things. One may focus on learning to crawl while another may focus learning to talk. They learn at differnt rates. I think the only concern at this age is if the baby isnt smiling or cooing and things like that.
