Will starting cereal help with GERD?

GERD edited the following:

Will starting cereal help with GERD?My daughter is almost 5 months and she has GERD which she takes medicine for but she still has spit up, occasionally vomiting. I really wanted to wait the full 6 months to start solids, but my doctor said rice ceral might help with the GERD. Has anyone else had this situation?

I am not completely sure what GERD is but I do know that putting cereal in a baby's bottle does help babies who spit up too much to not not spit up as much. So I would highly suggest putting cereal in her bottle (I usually use 1 or 2 scoops for every 6 ounces) I would also suggest starting her on solids because usually 4 months is a good age to start.

MIGHT help is the key word here.
I hear women on here say it helped, but I tried it with my son and quit soon after. I noticed no difference at all. Even when he started solids at 6 months the spit up/vomiting was still present.
It wasn't until he was 8 or 9 months old it finally began to resolve on its own.

We are in the same boat and are going to wait until 6 months because it is proven that babies who are introduced solids before 6 months have a higher risk of allergies later on in life. I'm going to keep my son on the meds another month (we never wanted to medicate but had to because he began bringing up blood when he vomited about two months ago). If you can handle the GERD as it is I would highly suggest not doing anything but milk right now.
