This clip from "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" (2005) film, illustrates Emily Rose´s voice during supposed devilish possession See related video for the tribunal scene, where the vocal effects are discussed. www.youtube.com The 2005 film "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" , directed by Scott Derrickson, was based on a true exorcism story that happened to Anneliese Michel, a german lady. A great Hollywood success, the film contains a tribunal scene where the prosecutor asks Father Moore about the possibility of Emily Rose, a 19 year-old girl, using vocal-ventricular phonation, as employed by Tibetan monks, for obtainig two sounds at the same time. Interestingly, the first documented explanation of the role of the false vocal folds in Tibetan Chant, together with the "true" vocal folds, is found on the 1998 paper "A self-sustained vocal-ventricular phonation mode: acoustical, aerodynamic and glottographic evidences", by Leonardo Fuks, Britta Hammarberg & Johan Sundberg:KTH TMH-QPSR 3/1998, 49-59, Stockholm. This paper is part of Leonardo Fuks´ PhD Thesis FROM AIR TO MUSIC - Acoustical, physiological and perceptual aspects of reed wind instrument playing and vocal-ventricular fold phonation,1999, KTH-Sweden. The vocal mechanism suggested by the prosecutor is imprecise and very confusing.
