alternatives to Anticholinergics?

Hi,I did the following:

alternatives to Anticholinergics?I take an Anticholinergic for my acid reflux (Prevacid). I am going for a Gastric Emptying study to see if I have Gastroparesis because it seems my stomach is emptying slowly. I read that Anticholinergics can cause or contribute to Gastroparesis.

I would like to be off of Anticholinergics, even if I don't have Gastroparesis I'd like to avoid the possibility of getting it. However, I was told to stay on them because if I don't treat the acid reflux (I was diagnosed with GERD and gastritis) that the acid can cause ulcers and other complications.

Is there any safe way to treat the acid without prescription drugs. I really don't like them anyway because of all the filler ingredients and I eat only natural foods.

I asked my doctor about enzymes, but I was told that enzymes are more for if you have an issue with your pancreas which is supposed to produce the enzymes, not your stomach.

Anticholinergics are proton-pump inhibitors. Something like an antacid (sodium bicarbonate etc) are not going to be a replacement as you're doubtless producing far too much acid to be neutralised.

Hi.As far as im aware Prevacid is a Proton Pump Inhibitor and not an anticholinergic.
In anycase there are some natural things that can help with Acid reflux.
Your doctors correct that Enzymes have a different indication and arnt of benefit in Reflux.
Some things that might help are
•Pickle juice,
•Olives,
•Okra,
•Real Liquorice but Liquorice cant be taken over longtime as it can be toxic to the liver & can cause hypertension(high blood pressure) so another option is Deglycyrrhized Licorice,
•German Chamomile,
•Blackstrap Molasses,
•Applesauce,
•Melatonin

If you decide to try any of these things,if anything makes your reflux worse ,then stop taking immediately.
Alos some people can have life-threatening alleriges to Chamomile so if you've never had chamomile before keep that in mind & consult your M.D or N.D before using.
Sometimes Acid Reflux can be caused by conditions involving too little acid(hypochlorhydria) and in those cases different herbs/natural things are needed and the condition might actually be exasperated by the treatments mentioned above.

A wide variety of over-the-counter medications such as antacids, anti-gas or ant-flatulence drugs, oral suspension and H-2 receptor blockers are available to provide temporary relief.

Avoid the overuse of over-the-counter medications as they may cause side effects such as constipation and diarrhea. For more frequent and severe episodes of acid reflux, your doctor may prescribe medications such as proton pump inhibitors. If lifestyle changes and prescription medications fail to offer improvement, surgery may be recommended.

Natural Remedies

Natural and holistic treatments have been used for centuries to treat and provide symptomatic relief for digestive problems. Homeopathic remedies are safe and effective to use for people of all ages without unwanted side effects. Carefully selected ingredients such as Calc phos, Carbo veg, Nat phos, Mag carb and Silicea helps to neutralize acid in the stomach as well as cleanse and eliminate toxins from the body and relieve symptoms of heartburn, indigestion, bloating and gas.
