What is wrong with me, does it sound like I have IBS?I am 16. For the past few months I have been having stomach pain and cramping.
The stomach pain is usually on my left side and it is not like chronic pain, it is just uncomfortable.
Before I used to go # 2 like once a day about and it wasn't strain full or anything, no cramps or anything. But ever since I have had stomach pain my #2 has been ALL over the place. Now I go 2+ times a day and I have cramps all day, I fart all the time (both going and faring seem to relieve my cramps and my stomach ach somewhat). Some days my # 2 is more like diareha, some days it is harder, some days it sinks, some days it floats, some days it looks to have blood in it (I doubt it is actually blood though it just looks that way).
Also ever since I was 12 years old I have had problems with burping.
I already went to the doctor like right when the stomach pain started and they didn't do much. They just told me I have GERD, which causes my burping and to take some mylanta to relieve it. They said going 2x a day is normal and not to worry about it and the doctor felt my stomach said she didn't feel anything abnormal and said that I might have just had a stomach bug or something causing the pain and change in #2.
Oh I also sometimes get what feels like my stomach is burning (like heartburn but in my stomach).
I think I have IBS, what do you think

Here is one site which links burping to IBS

Should I go back to the doctor and say I think I might have IBS?? Thanks!!

I think you probably have stress which is contributing to GERD and making you have heartburn, upset stomach, etc. I know, I have it also. Except I have no stomach pain. IBS would be like going many times a day or alternating not going at all. It doesn't sound like it but it can manifest if you don't calm down! Try to deal with GERD first, see if you can get that under control. Have you even tried, before blaming it on something else? good luck

I don't know much about IBS so couldn't say exactly how well this fits? But there are a lot of other things that can cause these problems. Like the doctor said basically, a stomach virus could mess your stomach up and cause some recurring problems. Try eating plain yogurt every day or taking probiotic supplements to keep your digestive system in good health, that can help a lot if this was the cause.
Also how is your diet? Do you eat the way you are supposed to for GERD? Ask your doctor for some good info on what you should and shouldn't eat/do to help with your GERD. Also make sure you eat lots of fruits and vegs, drink a lot of water and stay away from greasy or unhealthy foods as much as possible. A poor diet on its own can cause all the stomach problems you described. You/the doctor should rule that out completely (along w/maybe food sensitivities like lactose intolerance, etc) before going on to stuff like IBS?
eta- I would go back to the doc and try to get it figured out since you are still having problems, but no need/reason to try to diagnose yourself really?
